Cookie Confidential

It was really sunny so you couldn't
really see the sign.
Today we went to a cupcake place in Philadelphia by South Street. It was called Cookie Confidential. They sold cupcakes in the form of push pops and in jars. Also, they sold beer flavored cupcakes. Yuck!!
It was not in a very clean area. There was graffiti on the walls and gum on the sidewalks. The place was very nice, though. It had a mystery theme and had lots of caution tape. There wasn't really anywhere to sit. They had 3 stools and a table.
These were the push pops.
Now, the cupcakes. They had a whole display of just regular cupcakes, but they were all beer flavored. They had cookies, too. Then, they had cupcakes in jars. There were 1 layered cupcakes (cupcake and frosting), 2 layered cupcakes (2 cupcakes and 2 frosting layers), and push pops (2 mini cupcakes and 2 layers of frosting in a push pop container). That was pretty cool, but they could have made regular cupcakes that were not beer flavored. The flavors were not very good. They just had vegan chocolate peanut butter, red velvet, vanilla butter cream, and blueberry pancake. They might have had 1 or 2 more flavors but that is pretty much it. The frosting was very sweet. Almost too sweet!
The store was overall pretty good. The only thing they might want to change is adding more flavors and more seating. I recommend that you go to this place and try it out if you have extra time.

House of Cupcakes

All of us outside House of Cupcakes.
House of Cupcakes

YUM!
A sign that says "House of Cupcake"s.
Happy New Year! A few days ago we went into Philly and we were going to go to a cupcake place called Philly Cupcakes. Unfortunately, it was closed.

The next day we decided to go to Princeton to the House of Cupcakes. They actually won the Cupcake Wars recently but instead of keeping the $10,000 in prize money, they donated it all to St. Judes.

They had a very large selection of cupcakes. Over 20 different kinds! The selections weren't  just regular kinds either. There was eggnog, strawberry, s'mores, etc. There was also the regular kinds, too.

We got mint chocolate chip (mine), strawberry shortcake, 3 candy cup cupcakes, a vanilla, and a coffee flavored. They were so good! The House of Cupcakes was probably my favorite one so far! No wonder they won the Cupcake Wars!  I think if I had to rate this from 1-10 it would be an 11 with the Night Kitchen (see previous entry)coming close behind with a 10.9! If you are ever in Princeton, NJ you need to check this place out! It was my favorite place out of all of these that I've reviewed!

The Sugar Hoot

In November we were in Connecticut and went to this place cupcake place called "The Sugar Hoot". It was a really cute and quaint place in New Milford. I got a black and white cupcake. It was a marble cake with some chocolate frosting and some vanilla. It was really good! The only thing we wished they had was more of a selection. There were only about 5 cupcakes to chose from and only about 5 cookies to choose from, too. If The Sugar Hoot got more of a selection and maybe a bigger place, they would be very successful. If you are ever in the town of New Milford, CT you should go a pay The Sugar Hoot a visit!

The Night Kitchen

Me eating my cupcake.

A sign outside The Night Kitchen.

Move over Carlos Bakery! The Night Kitchen is in! Today we went to a little cafe/bakery called The Night Kitchen. It looked really good on the website,  http://www.nightkitchenbakery.com/. Unlike most of the cupcake stores I've went to this one was more like a cafe. It was in a nice town called Chestnut Hills, PA. The store was really nice. Half was the actual bakery where you could look in the window and watch them baking all the cakes, or cupcakes, or cookies, etc. It was very cute, and the employees were very patient and nice. The cupcakes they had that day were the regulars (chocolate, vanilla, red velvet), a cheesecake cupcake (cheesecake shaped like a cupcake), lemon curd, pumpkin, fall cupcakes, and Rocky Road. You could also get the regulars in room temperature so if you don't like the cold cupcakes you can get these instead. I finally decided to get the Rocky Road. It was a chocolate cupcake with tons of butter cream frosting that included marshmallows, and walnuts. This was coated with chocolate that was frozen. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED it!!!! It was so big that I couldn't eat it all! My brothers and sister got vanilla with chocolate frosting, choclate with vanilla frosting, vanilla with vanilla frosting, and pumpkin. They all loved it! We are definitely going back there soon!

Some cakes in the window.

Indulgence Cupcakery

All of us outside Indulgence Cupcakery
Today we went to a place called Indulgence Cupcakes. It is in Haddonfield, NJ. The site is called http://www.indulgencecupcakery.com/. I was excited to go there because by looking at the website I had thought that it looked really good. Once I walked in there I was surprised to see only cupcakes that were a little bit bigger than mini cupcakes. Each cupcake was either $1.50 or $1.60. On their site it said they made 20 to 30 cupcakes a day. It didn't seem like that much to me. They had Brownie, Apple Crumb, Vanilla Chocolate, Cannoli, Red Velvet, etc. I got Cannoli, my brother and sister got Vanilla Chocolate, my other brother got Red Velvet, and my other brother got Apple Crumb. The people were very friendly and the cupcakes were decorated nicely, but they were cold like they had been in the refrigerator. They had been made that morning according to the website, and they didn't taste very fresh. Also I thought that the frosting was more watery than creamy. I couldn't really put my finger on it but I wasn't one of the best cupcakes I had ever had.

Sandcastle Cupcakes

My family with our cupcakes.
Towards the beginning of September my family went to a waterpark in Ocean City. After we were done we stopped at a cupcake store. It was called Sandcastle Cupcakes. It looked really good! But the positive soon turned into a negative when we placed our order. The employees weren't very friendly and the cupcakes weren't very good. I got a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. Since these cupcakes were made with all natural ingrediants the red velvet looked brown. It was supposedly going to taste the same but I thought it tasted like chocolate. If I wanted chocolate then I would have ordered the chocolate cupcake. The cream cheese frosting tasted just like someone had plopped some cream cheese on a "red velvet" cupcake. At first I thought it was just my cupcake, but then none of my other sibling liked it much either.  If you are ever in Ocean City I don't think that you would want to visit Sandcastle Cupcakes.

East End Cupcakes

Me and my siblings eating our cupcakes!
Over summer break we took a vacation to Maine. It was beautiful there!! Rocks to climb, and pretty sights. But that's beside the point. While we were there in Portland, ME we were walking around and stumbled upon a cupcake store called East End Cupcakes. They have a website that you could go to if you are interested. It's called http://www.eastendcupcake.com/. When we went there I got a vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting. It was delicious! It was so creamy! The place was just as good as Georgetown Cupcakes! If you go there I'd recommend the cupcake that I got, but my brother's was even better!! He got the chocolate cupcake with chocolate peanut butter frosting and a pretzel on top.  The prices were pretty good, too! If I ever go back to Portland, ME I'll definetly revisit East End Cupcakes!!
